After much anticipation, the 2023 Asia Pacific Masters Games officially kicked off on Friday, May 12th in Jeonbuk, Korea, marking the start of two weeks of exciting competition.

The first day of competition featured a range of sports, including baseball, basketball, soccer, table tennis, tennis, and volleyball, with athletes from across the Asia Pacific region competing.


 

The day concluded with the traditional Torch Enshrine Ceremony, where the torch for the games arrived at Jeonbuk Provincial Office Square after a 2-day relay across 13 cities. In attendance were IMGA President, Sergey Bubka, IMGA CEO, Jens Holm, and APMG 2023 President, Kim Kwan Young.

The torch will continue to be carried across Jeonju city centre until it reaches the Jeonju World Cup Stadium, where it will be ignited at the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, May 13th. Over the course of the relay, the torch will have traveled an impressive 466km.
