The IMGA and Como region last Friday held a signing ceremony in Tampere to formalise Lake Como as the official host for the 2027 Open Masters Series.

The multi-sport festival, bringing together thousands of athletes, will take place in the fall of 2027 and will combine sport, culture and entertainment for everyone to enjoy!

On the 26th of June the three mayors of the different regions held a pre-signing ceremony to sign the agreement which states the collaboration between Como, Lecco and Varese: Mayor of Como Allesandro Rapinese, Mayor of Lecco Mauro Gattinoti and Mayor of Varese Davide Galimberti.

The contract was signed in Tampere by Mayor Allesandro and our President Sergey Bubka, who stated: “To have Como region host the Open Masters Series in 2027 is something I look forward to very much. It will have the perfect combination of fun sports competitions in beautiful surroundings and the athletes can enjoy the delicious Italian cuisine and absorb the Italian culture during their stay.”

The “Open Masters Series” is the new name for all regional events of the IMGA to align with the mission and vision that our Masters Games are open for everyone worldwide to participate in, regardless of location. The name change applies to the European Masters Games, the Pan – American Masters Games, and the Asia – Pacific Masters Games.
