The 2023 Asia Pacific Masters Games kicked off in grand fashion with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium. The event showcased the rich traditions and culture of Korea, treating participants to a magnificent Korean spectacular. 

Athletes were welcomed into the stadium by stunning performances by 50 Korean Folklore performers, who welcomed athletes from around the world. A heartfelt opening speech by Mr Kim Kwan Young, APMG 2023 President, was followed by congratulatory remarks from Sergey Bubka, IMGA President. Mr Kee-Heung LEE, President of Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, also delivered a warm welcoming speech to the participants. 

The ceremony culminated with the hoisting of the AMPG 2023 flag, officially opening the event. Spectators were then treated to an amazing show featuring firework displays and performances from some of the top Korean performers. 

Sergey Bubka expressed his gratitude towards the hosts: “We have enjoyed a spectacular opening ceremony which was perfectly organised by our hosts. It was truly an impressive experience and a great tribute to all the sports athletes who have gathered in Jeollabuk – Do for the 2023 Asia Pacific Masters Games.”

With the opening ceremony setting the tone for an exciting and memorable event, the Asia Pacific Masters Games promises to be a thrilling celebration of sports, culture, and friendship.
