President Bubka and CEO Holm have been on technical venue inspection in Lombardia for the 2024 Winter World Masters Games.
They have visited the venues in the region and met with the technical specialists for ski, jumping, biathlon, speedskating, long track, snowboarding, skiing orienteering and the site for the opening ceremony.
Since the first edition in 2010 in Bled, the community of adult winter sport competitors has been steadily growing over the years. During the last edition in 2020, where 12 sports were represented, over 3,000 winter sport athletes joined the festivities and competitions.
The 2024 Winter World Masters Games will have the premier for Snowboarding competition since the start of the Games in 2010. The region is known for holding several winter sport competitions, where Bormio will also take the stage to organise the men’s ski competition and the ski mountaineering race during the Winter Olympics in 2026.
President Bubka says “ I am very impressed with the professional planning and technical preparations of all the venues. Everything is meticulously planned one year out from the games, and promised to deliver an outstanding experience for our athletes from a tourism point of view combined with a unique and spectacular sporting experience.”
Over 3,000 athletes are expected to join the Winter World Masters Games in 2024 in the spirit of ‘Sport for life’ to enjoy their passion and celebrate the love for sport with like-minded people.
On the program are the following sports & disciplines: Biathlon, Cross Country, FIS Ski slalom, Night Mountaineering, Figure Skating, Short Track, Ice Hockey, Ski Orienteering, Speed Skating, Snowboard, Curling, Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping, Ski Mountaineering, Giant Slalom, Snow run and Special Slalom.
