Kansai 2021 Organising Committee have altered the hockey tournament format and added a further 20 places for international teams.

The Kansai 2021 Organising Committee recently met to discuss the format of hockey at the 2021 World Masters Games.

It has since been agreed that the duration of the tournament will be extended from 5 days to 8 days. The tournament will now take place from Saturday, 15 May – Sunday, 23 May 2021.

The competition now will follow the official rules in that matches will be played in four quarters each 15 minutes in duration. There will be a 2 minute interval between quarters one and two and quarters three and four, and a five minute break at half time (between quarters two and three).

In addition, a further 20 places for international teams have been added to the programme.
