Participated in five editions of the Olympic Winter Games: Sarajevo 1984, Calgary 1988, Albertville 1992 (bronze medallist in 4x5km relay), Lillehammer 1994 (gold medallist in 15km and 30km, silver medallist in 5km and pursuit, bronze medallist in 4x5km relay), Nagano 1998 (bronze medal in 4x5km relay); seven-time medallist at World Championships (three silver and four bronze); winner of the World Cup seasons 1993/1994 and 1995/1996; 22 national titles; first Italian woman to conquer Everest (flew the Olympic flag on top of the world at 8,850 m) (2003)
