The IMGA events are world’s most prestigious multi-sport events for mature athletes. The aim is to give the opportunity to Masters athletes to live a unique sporting experience that is normally only accessible for professional athletes. Over almost 15 years the IMGA has been organising the European Masters Games, the biggest European Masters multi-sport festival, with thousands of participating athletes in over 20 sports.

In 2023 the IMGA is raising the bar with an exciting new destination in Finland, Tampere that will bring together the ultimate mix of sporting and leisure experiences for mature sports enthusiasts around the world.

Sports Program

2023 brings the fifth edition of the European Masters Games. Having previously been hosted in Sweden, France and twice in Italy, we now bring the Games to Finland. Tampere is a city in southern Finland that sits between äsijärvi Lake and Pyhäjärvi Lake, with the Tammerkoski rapids in between.

The following sports are on the program:

Core sports: Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Canoeing, Cycling, Football, Futsal, Golf, Orienteering, Rowing, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Beach Volley, Weightlifting
Optional sports: Disc Golf, Floorball, Handball, Inline Hockey, Judo, Karate, Swimming, Demonstration sports: Darts, Petanque, Padel
Para sports: Swimming, Athletics, Sitting Volleyball, Table Tennis
