The sports program is different for each IMGA Masters Games event. Sport programs are established by the host cities, taking several things into account:
– Priority to our member sport federations (specifically for the World Masters Games)
– Popularity of the sport in the region where the event is held and internationally
– Venue availability for the sport in and in proximity of the city
The sports program shall be in accordance with the IMGA guidelines for each event and all sports must be held in accordance with the rules and authority of the relevant International Federation.
Each International Federation, governing a sport being on the programme of the games, shall designate a technical delegate, who shall be responsible for the overseeing the competition within the limits, set by the Board of Governors.
As mentioned above, the Host City Organising Committee can select additional sports to complement the core program. Those sports are selected on the basis of the facilities available and the strength of those sports at masters’ level in that country and internationally.
