President Sergii Bubka recently made a visit to the World Triathlon Championships Series held in Abu Dhabi, which marked the start of the Triathlon season.

The IMGA and the Abu Dhabi Organising Committee are anticipating the 2026 Open Masters Series that will take place in Abu Dhabi in February.  During his visit, Bubka met with Mr. Talal Al Hashemi, the Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, reflecting the strong relation between the IMGA and local organizations to promote Masters Sport worldwide.

 

Next to the elite races the different age groups were racing the same track during the weekend
which emphasized the importance of development of sport initiatives that will benefit both the local and international community.

Furthermore, President Bubka met with Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon, both sharing the excitement the venue for the World Triathlon Championships will be used for the Open Masters Series Abu Dhabi in 2026. This future event indicates that the city is invested in planning strategically for future international competitions to inspire the local community in embracing sport in daily life.

The Triathlon event and the visit of IMGA’s President underlines the collaboration between international and local entities, laying a foundation for the continued growth of a thriving sports culture in Abu Dhabi.
