On Monday 15 July at the Pan American Masters Games Community Day six multi-purpose fitness machines have been installed for community benefit near the Aura at Innovation Square.

In line with the mission of the IMGA to activate local population around the events, this equipment will support social and emotional health and wellness opportunities for individuals of all ages, help create convenient workout options, eliminate the barriers to participation, and offer a well-rounded workout for residents of Cleveland.

The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony for the plaque and equipment, yard games, speakers, refreshments, and small beautification projects throughout the space. In total $60,000 was contributed by sponsors for the outdoor exercise equipment.

From the IMGA, Board members Kate Caithness and Makoto Chogahara were present to emphasise the importance of the mission of the IMGA to encourage adults to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Kate Caithness, former President of the World Curling Federation, stated: “It is wonderful to see the city of Cleveland is doing such a tremendous effort to bring these opportunities to the local community and make sport a part of daily life in the city. We all have busy lives and any initiative that makes it easier for people in the city to practise sport is a step forward.”

We’re looking forward to seeing the equipments in use and becoming a gathering place for the local residents to share their love for physical activity and sport.
