The 2023 European Masters Games have been in full swing, attracting athletes from all corners of the globe to compete in a wide range of sports. Yesterday, IMGA President Sergey Bubka, paid a visit to the Disc Golf event at the Games.

Disc Golf is an exciting sport that combines elements of traditional golf and frisbee. Players aim to complete a course in the fewest number of throws, using specialised discs (instead of golf clubs and balls) and throwing them into metal baskets. The event took place on an 18-hole course, renowned as the most difficult in Finland. The layout tested the precision and technique of the players, offering a true challenge to their abilities.

Despite the demanding nature of the course, the athletes showcased their skills with grace and tenacity. One notable participant was IMGA board member, Makoto Chogahara, who demonstrated remarkable skill and determination throughout the competition.

During his visit to the European Masters Games Disc Golf event, President Sergey Bubka took the opportunity to connect with the athletes, witnessing their dedication and sportsmanship first-hand. He even joined them on the course, attempting a few throws himself and experiencing the thrill of the sport. In addition, Sergey explored the venue, interacting with participants and visiting the Disc Golf shop.

Expressing his thoughts on the event, President Sergey Bubka remarked, “I am very impressed with the beautiful course and the magnificent nature scenery it offers. Witnessing the athletes in action and practicing the sport has truly inspired me. This visit has reminded me that you are never too old to learn and embrace new challenges.”
