“The Masters Games are not just about winning medals; it is about the joy and passion that sports bring us.”

The 2023 Asia Pacific Masters Games are well under way after a jam-packed weekend of incredible competition in Jeonbuk.

It was also a busy weekend for IMGA President, Sergey Bubka, as he paid special visits to competition venues across the region to meet athletes and volunteers alike.

He conversed with athletes from across the world to get their perspective and feedback on the Games thus far. While doing so, he experienced first-hand the top level venues and electric, family-friendly atmosphere that brings these athletes together to celebrate Masters sport.

“We are gathered here as a community of sports enthusiasts, who have come from all over the world, with one aim – to compete and celebrate our love and dedication towards sports.”

“We all share a mutual passion and desire to challenge ourselves… we come from different backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities, but today, we are united as one.”

About the exceptional organisation of the Games he said, “I would like to express my heart felt gratitude to our gracious hosts, volunteers and organisers for their continuous efforts, dedication, and hard work behind the scenes in bringing these games to life.”

Bubka hopes that the Jeonbuk Games will leave a legacy by building a long-standing Masters community in Korea who uphold this passion for sport.
